Ramoncita Age - 91 - Española (Valdez) Tafoya

Ramoncita (Valdez) Tafoya, 91, a resident of Española and formerly of Petaca, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, December 31, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Servilleta Plaza, on December 23, 1921. Ramoncita was preceded in death by her parents, Alejandro and Virginia Gallegos; her 1st husband, Emilio Valdez; 2nd husband, Jose Tafoya; her son, Eugenio Valdez; brothers: Andres and Daniel Gallegos. She worked as a post mistress in Petaca for many years. She was also a homemaker who loved cooking and baking holiday goodies, such as empanadas and bread in the horno. She loved doing her word search puzzles, arts & crafts and enjoyed planting flowers. She also loved the outdoors, music and loved spending time at the Beatrice V.Q. Martinez Senior Center with her many friends. She loved butterflies and hummingbirds. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her. She was a pillar of strength – silently leading four generations of her family. She was the greatest mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and sister. Ramoncita is survived by her children Tony Gallegos and wife Prescila of Grants, Jerry Valdez and wife Rachel of Albuquerque, Virginia DeAguero and husband Roderick of Albuquerque, Katie Rael and husband Joe of Albuquerque, Pearl Archuleta and husband Peter of El Rito, Ernesto Valdez and wife Berlinda of Petaca, Floyd Valdez and wife Bernadette of Petaca, Diana Rodriguez and husband Tony of Rio Rancho, Sally Martinez and husband Jeff of Española, Julie Marquez and husband Jesse of Española, Beth Pacheco and Lillie Archuleta of Española; 30 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 11 great- great-grandchildren. Her Celebration of Life will be celebrated on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at El Buen Pastor, 609 Calle Rivera in Española, New Mexico. A private burial will take place in Petaca at a later date.
