Rae Anna Martinez

Rae Anna Elena Martinez , 26, of Espanola, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Friday, September 28th, 2018, passing peacefully in her sleep. She was born in Las Cruces to Nancy Sanchez and Mark Martinez, June 4th, 1992. She is preceded in death by her dad Mark M. Martinez, nina Loretta Griego, paternal great-grandparents Antonio and Christina Griego, maternal great-grandmother Josie Sanchez, and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

She is survived by her mom, Nancy E. Sanchez, of Raton, sister Raquel C. Martinez of Raton, grandfather Roque Sanchez of Raton, grandparents Mary-Agnes and Manuel Martinez of Espanola, uncle Matthew Martinez and wife Victoria of Velarde, special aunt Sandra Griego of Las Cruces, uncle Antonio Sanchez and wife Layle of Portales, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Rae was intelligent, beautiful, humorous, and full of life. She was a college student studying Criminal Justice and looked forward a career in this field. She was a loving, caring daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin, niece, and friend. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. She will forever hold a place in all our hearts. Though her life on earth was short, we take comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her dad and other loved ones who have passed.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with burial to follow at the family plot in La Madera. The family of Rae Anna Elena Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
