Prescilla Montoya

Prescilla V. Montoya, 84, a resident of El Valle, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 5, 2016. Prescilla was born on November 9, 1931 in El Valle, New Mexico to Manuel and Casilda Velasquez. Prescilla was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed watching Let’s Make a Deal, Price is Right, soap operas, and her favorite of all was Judge Judy. She was not rich, but to her she was the richest person in the world because of her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Prescilla was preceded in death by her husband, Nestor Orlando Montoya; parents, Manuel and Casilda Velasquez; brothers, Feliciano, Juan Amadeo, Henry, Canuto, and Solome Velasquez; sister, Ansencion Romero and son, Jimmy Montoya. She is survived by her sons, Nelson Montoya (Teresita), Miguel Montoya (Betty) all of El Valle; Jake Montoya (Leslie) of Los Luceros; daughter in law, Anna Montoya of El Valle; brother, Vergilio Velasquez (Felecita) of Ojo Sarco; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, plus numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at the San Miguel Catholic Church in El Valle, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the San Miguel Catholic Church in El Valle, with a burial to follow at a later date.  The family of Prescilla Montoya has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. 1-505-747-7477 or www.devargasfuneral.com
