Precilla Chyo, 74, a resident of Santa Cruz, peacefully joined our Lord and Savior surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, December 17, 2019.
Precilla was a teacher for more than 30 years in the Espanola Valley. She was the oldest of 13 brothers and sisters and always had a biscochito, empanada or a meal at the ready for visitors. Precilla and her husband Sung, owned and operated the Bullgoki Gardens Restaurant in Santa Cruz, where they enjoyed feeding the community. Her passion for teaching children of all ages was evident even after retiring, as she continued to teach her children and grandchildren how to cook her delicious recipes. She is was a loving mother to three children, and an amazing grandmother to her 7 grandchildren.
Precilla was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Alice Herrera.
She is survived by her husband, Sung David Chyo, her sons, David and Timothy and daughter Louella, as well as her 7 grandchildren.
She is also survived by her siblings, Henry, Mary Lou, Bengie, Josephine, JoAnn, Ruby, Lorraine, Carolyn, Jimmy, Marjorie Mary, Grace and Michael. A funeral service will be recited on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in La Joya. Burial to follow at Loma Vista Cemetery in Alcalde with the following serving as pallbearers, her sons, David and Timothy and her nephews, Greg, Dustin, Brandon, Josh and Jaiden.
