Pollo Roberto Mascareñas, 62, a resident of Chamita, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Antonia Mascareñas; parents, Robert and Elviria Mascareñas; brother, Larry Mascareñas; grandparents, Pantaleon and Romana Mascareñas. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps. And was a Vietnam Veteran. He loved motorcycles and old cars, and loved spending time with his grandkids every chance he got. Pollo is survived by his children; Alejandro Mascareñas, and Andrea Herrera; grandkids, Cruzita Garcia, Elena Garica, David Garcia, Lucas Mascareñas, and Andres Acosta; aunt, Rosemary and husband Charlie Lopez, Ruby Mascareñas; cherished cousin, Senovia Quintana; best friend, Alicia Tapia; special friend, Dorothy. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in San Juan Pueblo, with a rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in San Juan Pueblo, with a burial to follow at the Chamita Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as honorary pallbearers, Rudy Sena, Jake Gallegos, Fred Alire, Al Summers, Edward Quintana and Jerry Gonzales. The family of Pollo Roberto Mascareñas has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
