Phillip Vigil, 55, a resident of Ojo Caliente, passed away of a lengthy Illness on Friday, May 16, 2014. Phillip was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Andres and Orlinda Lopez, paternal grandparents, Max and Georgia Vigil; nephew Alfonso Archuleta. Phillip was a devoted loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He adored his nephews and nieces. They had a blast riding on his back hoe. Another of his hobbies was cooking, he was a great cook. Phillip loved the outdoors, camping and going for wood. Another hobby was live horse racing and live boxing with his good friend Andy. Phillip was generous with his time and talents. His pets Bonnie and Clyde were his babies. We will dearly miss you, may you rest in peace. Phillip is survived by his wife, Marie Carey-Vigil of Ojo Caliente; parents, Virginia and Clyde Vigil of Española; brothers and sisters, Vivian Hrivnak and husband Lloyd, Virgil Vigil and wife Barbara of Española, Tina Archuleta and husband Donald of Chamita, Luisa Trujillo of Hernandez, Clyde Vigil of Española; brothers and sister-in-laws, Dolores and husband Lee Esquibel of San Pedro, Ben and Dolly of Chile, Rita and husband Eusebio Arellano of Chamita, Rick Montoya of Chili, Yvonne and husband Glen Rinehart of TX, Lonnie Montoya and companion Linda of Española, and Nichole Griego of Abiquiu, and Robert Montoya of Albuquerque; god-son, Clyde E. Vigil, and numerous nephews, great nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A wake service will begin on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española, followed by a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, a meal will follow at Anthony’s at the Delta. Serving as pallbearers will be Ramsey Vigil, Clyde Vigil, Clovis Velarde, Juanito Dominguez, Dave Olivas, Pete Jaramillo, Antonio Bustos, Antonio Maez, honorary pallbearers named, Lorraine Vigil, Brenda Casias, Jordan Bustos, Jeanne Bustos, Maria Elena Rodela, Marisol Dominguez, and Eusebio Arellano.
