Phillip Gonzales, 48, a resident of Espanola, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 3, 2014, after an illness. He was proceeded in death by his father Nelson Gonzales; grandparents Jose & Rosa Martinez and Aaron & Angelina Gonzales; Brothers, Gene Gonzales and Donald Gonzales, sisters, Betty Gonzales and Karen Martinez; nephews, Deon Gonzales and Leon Gonzales, and niece, Shaylene Romero. He leaves behind his fiancé, Tamara Martinez, children Samantha Viarrial and Husband Derek, Katrina Gonzales, Jerome Gonzales, Eric Martinez-Gonzales, and Ericka Gonzales; special nephew who was like a son, Walter “Goosey” Rodriguez, step-son Ricky Martinez; grandchildren Nevaeh Becerra, Aleena Viarrial, Aubrey Bacerra, Zach Villrial and Carlos Bacerra; Mother, Lala Gonzales and step father Horace Montoya; In laws, Tammy and Floyd Garcia His sisters, Angie Trujillo and husband Charlie, Judy Romero and husband Frankie, Lillian Gonzales and companion George Sena, brothers, Manuel Gonzales and wife Margaret, and Anthony Gonzales wife Annette; uncles, Leo Gonzales and wife Amy, Aunt Gloria Molina and husband Roy, Aunt Corrine Salazar, uncle Clarence Martinez, Uncle Leo Martinez and wife Vicenta, Uncle Lee Gonzales and wife Stella. Phillip was a fun loving individual whose biggest accomplishment was building his home which, he did with the help of family and friends. He enjoyed fixing up low riders, helping others and most importantly being around his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of Devargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanola, with a burial to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be JR Sandoval, Norman Valdez, Vernon Martinez, Randy Maestas, Derick Viarrial, and Johnny Green Eyes, honorary Pallbearers are Dean Borgstrom, Orlando Griego and his nephews and nieces. A meal will be held following the burial at the Parish Hall at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanola. The family of Phillip Gonzales has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.\r\n
