Petra Avila

PETRA AVILA, 88, a resident of Española and born in Rio Escondido, Mexico, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cayetano Avila; parents, Emilio and Concepcion Rangel and 4 sisters. Petra was a wonderful homemaker and amazing woman who raised 13 children. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed having her sons over for breakfast every morning. She also had a great sense of humor and was very witty. Mrs. Avila is survived by her children, Rosa Salazar, Socorro Corpus, Joe Avila, Rosario Campos, Miguel, Roberto, Francisco, Raul, Guillermo, Felipe, Fernando, Martha and Jesus Avila; 49 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at El Buen Pastor Church in Ranchitos with a devotional service to begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. also at El Buen Pastor Church in Ranchitos. Burial to follow at the Assembly of God Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving as pallbearers, Jose Salazar, Alonso Corpus, Carlos Campos, Jesus Avila, Raul Adam Avila, Jesse Avila, Dorian Avila, and Julio Avila. Honorary pallbearers are Sergio Salazar, Rolando Salazar, Daniel Salazar, Leno Avila, Lyon Avila, Lee Daniel Avila, Raul Corpus, Emmanuel Corpus, Marcos Campus, Rodolfo Campus, David Campos, Jorge Campos, Miguel Avila, Francisco Javier Avila, Moses Avila, and F. Abram Avila.. The family of Petra Avila has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
