\r\n \r\nPete Montoya, 88, a lifelong resident of La Puebla passed away on Friday, September 24, 2010 after a short illness. He loved going to church every Sunday with his son Robert. They would go to the casino, and he loved to go bowling and love the outdoors. Mr. Montoya was a WWII veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elvira Quintana Montoya in 2001. He is survived by his sons: Pete Robert Montoya of La Puebla, James Joe Montoya and wife Francine of La Puebla; grandsons: Pete Montoya Jr. of La Puebla, James Montoya Jr. and wife Rachel of Arroyo Seco; granddaughters: Elizabeth Garcia and husband Orlando of La Puebla, Michelle Montoya and fiancée Alan Archuleta of Rio Rancho; great-grandchildren: A.J. Trujillo of Alcalde, Orlando Garcia Jr. of Santa Cruz, Carly Garcia of La Puebla, Christy Garcia of La Puebla, Natalia Montoya of Arroyo Seco; numerous nieces, nephews & other relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de La Cañada in Santa Cruz, burial will follow at the La Puebla Catholic Cemetery.
