Pete G. Trujillo Sr passed away peacefully on August 19, 2023.
Pete was born in La Zorra, NM on November 9, 1942. He is preceded in death by his parents Bonifacio Trujillo and Rufinita Ortega and his brother Beltran Trujillo.
Pete was the eldest of four siblings. He was a graduate of Ojo Caliente High School and went on to attend New Mexico Highlands University where he obtained a master’s degree in education. Soon after high school he met his wife, Susie Gallegos. They were married on June 15, 1962.
Pete is survived by his siblings Ameila (Teofilo) Martinez of Espanola and Joe Trujillo of La Mesilla. His wife Susie Trujillo and their five children Josephine Trujillo of Las Cruces, Pete Jr. (Victoria) of La Villita, Adam (Amanda) of Rio Rancho, Fabian (Victoria) of Rio Ojo and Bonifacio Trujillo (Candie) of Truchas.
Pete lived a fulfilling and dynamic life working as an educator, a rancher, a farmer, and an activist. Pete left a mark on many lives. He was best known for his love of The Gospel and spreading the word of God as a preacher. He also enjoyed playing the guitar in his spare time.
Pete was blessed with his grandchildren Amada, Alejandro, Azalea, Ariana, Ammorette, Andrew, Arianna, Nick, AJ, Alyjah, Damian, Kaelynn, Zachary, and Ezekiel. He enjoyed being a grandfather and cherished the time spent with them.
Pete also leaves behind many other nieces, nephews, and relatives.
Services for Pete will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM. A Public Visitation will be at 5:00 pm, followed by a Devotional Service at 6:00 pm.
