Our beloved father, Paul S. Lucero, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family of Thursday, October 25, 2012, and is now in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was 82 years old, born in Velarde, New Mexico, on August 8, 1930 and was a longtime resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amadeo Lucero Sr. (author of New Mexico’s State Song – Asi es Nuevo Mexico) and Francisquita Miera Lucero; daughter, Francis Lucero; son, Danny Lucero; brother, Benjamin Lucero; sisters: Gloria Aubrecht, Martha Talcott, and his beloved companion, friend, and partner, Sadie Ortiz Jaramillo.\r\n Our father enlisted in the U.S. Army in March, 1948 and proudly served our nation during the Korean War as a Sergeant. He was a recipient of multiple military citation awards including the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Campaign Stars. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman and enjoyed horse racing.\r\n He is survived by his loving children: Sue Rabener and husband Lee, Myra Bauerband and husband Scott, Robert and Alan Lucero; grandchildren: Jeff Rabener, Steve & Marisela Lucero and Crystal Lucero; sister, Lorraine Hernandez; brothers: Amadeo Lucero Jr. (Martha), Frances Lucero (Eliana), Gerson Lucero (Beatrice); aunt, Fabiola Lucero; uncles: Glen Talcott and Larry Aubrecht; close friend, Wallace Haynes. He also had loving extended family ties with Judy Ortiz, Albert (Sony) Jr., Ralph, Jerry and Ron Jaramillo; numerous other loving relatives & friends.\r\n Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of De Vargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a Memorial to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. with the following serving as pallbearers: Ben Lucero, Artie Lucero, Henry Guillen, Mike Guillen, Wallace Haynes and Ralph Jaramillo.
