Patsy Chavez

With heavy, broken hearts we share that our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Patsy L. Chavez, 67, went to Heaven to be with our Lord on Thursday, June 28, 2018. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Patricio and Mayble Lovato; brother, Henry Lovato and father-in-law, Tomas Chavez. Patsy devoted her life to her husband and family, but also enjoyed her 35 years of work with the U.S. Forest Service. She will be greatly missed and remembered for her loving smile, kind words and amazing food such as her tortillas. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Juan Chavez; children, Carlos (Samantha), Felipe (Pam) and Juan Diego (Stallion); grandchildren, Jesse, JohnnyRay (Janice Chavez), Selena, Carlos, Elena and Andrea. Patsy will also be forever missed by her siblings, Dorella Pacheco (Toby), Vernita Byrum, Judi Painter (Bob), Lee Allison (Dave), Johnny Lovato, Mike Lovato, Andy Lovato (Debbie) and Harry Lovato (Bonnie); brother-in-law, Jose Chavez (Piedad); sisters in law, Clara Fermin (Santiago), Loyola Archuleta (Robert) and Antonia Sanchez, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends who loved her dearly. Public visitation will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A second rosary will be recited on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gallina. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu with burial to follow in Gallina. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Jesse Chavez, JohnnyRay Chavez, Patricio Chavez, Lorenzo Chavez, Matt Pacheco and W.E. McCracken. Honorary pallbearers will be Selena Chavez, Carlitos Chavez, Elena Chavez, Andrea Chavez and Janice Chavez. The family of Patsy L. Chavez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
