Patrick James Sanchez, 48, known to his friends and family simply as “Duke,” returned to his creator on Sunday, November 18, 2012, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Upon his death he was reunited with his parents, Miguel and Trinnie; his older brother, Greg; brother-in-law, Danny; nephew, Anthony; his best friend Anna Marie.\r\n Pat fought a courageous and painful battle against many health issues and the family is most grateful for the healthcare afforded him by Xochitl Romero, PA & staff, The Presbyterian Hospital of Española, the St. Vincent’s Medical and Cancer Centers of Santa Fe, and then the Ambercare Hospice Service of the Española Valley. May God bless you for your kindness and care.\r\n Pat is survived by his 2nd earthly mom, his beloved “Tia Anna,” his loving uncle Joe and aunt Polly; aunt Rebecca Peña of La Madera, aunt Lupita Ortega of Midvale, Utah, aunt; Delfinia Griego of El Guique. Sisters: Mary and Gilbert of Los Lucero’s, Irene and David of Medanales, Barbara and Jeff of La Mesilla, Juanita of El Llano; cousin who was very much like his other sister, Pamela Madrid of El Guique; brothers: Miguel, Leroy and Peter of El Guique, and Clyde and Shirley of La Mesilla. He is also survived by 12 nephews and nieces, 15 great nephews and nieces and many cousins and friends, including his very close family friends, Henry and Sadie Pacheco, Miguel and Erma Chavez, and Lupe and Loretta Gonzales.\r\n Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with burial to follow at San Rafael Cemetery in El Guique.
