Patrick Michael "Mike" Hersom

Patrick Micheal (Mike) Hersom, 74, of Perth-Andover, NB, Canada, passed away suddenly on May 2, 2024, in Espanola, NM.  He was born on December 29, 1949.  Mike was a proud United States Army Veteran, serving from June 1968 to June 1971 during the Vietnam War.  He did two tours of duty in Vietnam, 20 months.

Mike dedicated over 60 years of his live to driving semi-trucks, traveling all 48 states and Canada.  His commitment to his career was unwavering, and he took great pride in his work.  All who knew him respected his work ethic and the pride he took in his trucks and job.

In his free time, Mike enjoyed building detailed semi-truck models. His precision and passion for this hobby were evident in every piece he crafted.  He also loved camping and fishing and would go whenever he could.

Mike was preceded in death by his daughter Tammy Rae Hersom, his father Shirley Hersom, mother Kathleen Tufts and sister Linda Shaw.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Shelby, his sons Michael Calvin and Aron Leonal, 10 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sister Martha Aldrich and her husband Fletcher, who was like a brother to him, his brothers Martin Hersom, Peter Hersom and his wife Diane, and his sister Kathryn Higgins and her husband Danny.  

A Ceremony to honor Mike’s life will be Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Espanola, NM (909 La Joya Street).
