Pat O. Valdez, 69, a resident of La Madera passed away unexpectedly due to an accident on Monday, April 8, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, Onofre Valdez; father-in-law, Rubel Montoya; granddaughter, Christine Lopez; son-in-law, Eloy Lopez. Mr. Valdez worked and retired from the State of New Mexico prior to employment with the state he was contracted as a school bus driver where after retirement he continued his passion for driving school buses. His active involvement with logging and trucking contributed to the success of La Compania Ocho. He loved fishing, watching his granddaughter play basketball, camping, riding his motorcycle and playing poker. He loved all his grandkids. Mr. Valdez is survived by his wife of 52 years, Eva Valdez; mother, Consuelo Valdez; children: Dennis Valdez and wife Frances, Patricia Lopez and companion Robert Pacheco, Florinda Borrego and husband Michael, Arthur Valdez, Phillip Dwayne Valdez and wife Sonia; grandchildren: Pvt. Dennis Valdez Jr. and companion Rita, Tiffany and Brandy Valdez, Barbie Lopez and companion Adrian, Crystal Lopez, Julissa Borrego, Artie Valdez and companion Miquela, Anthony, Stacy, Mika and Phillip Valdez; 9 great-grandchildren; goddaughter, Corina Rael; brothers: Victor Valdez and wife Carmen, Leroy Valdez and wife Rose; sister, Evelyn Rael and husband Gilbert; aunt, Bertha Esquibel; mother-in-law, Nestorita Montoya; brothers-in-law, Onecimo Montoya and wife Rose, Harold Montoya and wife Martha, Eloy Montoya and wife Yvonne, Ben Montoya and companion Betty Sandoval, Joel Montoya and wife Johnna; sisters-in-law: Helen Lovato and husband Glen, Teresa Montoya and husband Greg, Freida Montenegro and husband Joe; numerous other loving relatives & friends. Memorial service will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will take place on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Tusas Cemetery in Las Tusas, NM with the following serving the family as pallbearers will be: Pvt. Dennis Valdez Jr., Artie, Anthony and Phillip Valdez. Reception to be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Mesa Vista School Cafeteria following burial. The family of Pat O.
