PACOMIO FILIMON SALAZAR, 88, a resident of Cañones, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 17, 2014 surrounded by his beautiful family. He was preceded in death by his son, Delfinio Salazar; parents, Nazario and Bernadita Salazar; mother-in-law, Delfinia Martinez; father-in-law, Presentacion Vialpando; brothers, Guillermo and Sebedeo Salazar and sisters, Frances Gallegos and Rosita Salazar. Mr. Salazar is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rosabel Salazar; 11 children, Rosemary Vialpando and husband Gilbert, Alfredo Salazar and wife Christine, Abade Salazar and wife Veronica, Nazario Salazar and wife Cindy, Pauline Lovato and husband Manuel, Delma Salazar and husband Antonio, Bernadette Salazar, Sandra Salazar, Morris Salazar, Ruby Valdez and husband Levi and Jonathan Salazar; special loving and caring nephew, Emilio Lovato; caregiver, Mindy Chavez; grandsons he helped raise, Zachary and Nathaniel Salazar; he is also survived by his greatest love of all, greatly blessed and great pride in being a granpito to 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; God-children, Valerie Lovato and Elias Valdez and numerous other relatives and friends. Pacomio was a humble remarkable man he gave generously of himself, his wisdom as a father, grandfather, uncle and friend, and will always be a beautiful friendship deeply missed. His zest for living a great life was pure and simple prayer, faith and lots of cumbia dancing, he was an amazing dancer. He was a foster grandparent of the Cañones Early childhood Center passionately committed to pre-K achievements touching the lives of many children and their families. His humble traditions as a devoted deep-rooted penitente for 50 plus years will forever be cherished “The man with a golden voice” his brilliant singing talent and his devout faith as a Hermano of the Cañones Morada will forever be an influential admiration deeply respected in the penitents righteous way of life. Public visitation as well as a wake service will begin on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Abiquiu with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A second wake service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the San Miguel Catholic Church in Cañones with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. also at the San Miguel Catholic Church in Cañones. Burial to follow at the Cañones Community Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Jacob, Moses and Estevan Salazar, Myron Cordova, James, Zachary, and Nathaniel Salazar, Fabian Apodaca and Delfinio Valdez. Honorary pallbearers named are the remaining grandchildren, Valerie and Miranda Lovato, Patricia Garduño, Victoria Flores, Melanie Goins, Monica, Amanda and Marissa Salazar, Claudette Cordova, Isaiah Salazar, Elias Valdez and Emilio Lovato. The family of Pacomio Filimon Salazar has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.\r\n \r\n \r\n
