Pablo Esparza Chavez, 86, a resident of Espanola, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ramona V. Chavez, daughter Debbie Medina and husband David Medina, daughter Martha Chavez, 5 grandchildren Micaela Medina, Maricel Medina, Antonio Pacheco-Chavez, Elise Medina and David Medina Jr. Pablo was the proud owner of Chavez Construction. Many of the beautiful structures he constructed can be seen throughout the Espanola Valley. Pablo was a hardworking man who did his best to provide for his family. He instilled in his children and grandchildren the importance of hard work, honesty, and integrity. He used to say,” If your name is associated with your labors, you must ensure that it is completed with self-pride and perfection and if it isn’t, start over again.” Pablo loved spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing. He was an avid reader as well a talented baseball player in his youth. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Jesus has welcomed Pablo into his loving arms and has embraced him for eternity. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at La Igleisa de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. The family of Pablo Esparza Chavez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
