Ovaido Martinez, 95 years old has walked the path that all must eventually take. To welcome him at the end of this road are his son, Mike Martinez, his grandson, Nelson Martinez, granddaughter Connie and husband Chris Reynolds, parents, Elias and Aurora Martinez, his in-laws, Samuel Gonzales and Beatrice Fresquez, his brother Rogerio Martinez, sister-in-law, Priscilla Martinez, brother Elifar Martinez, sister-in-law, Stella Martinez, brother-in-law Gilbert Fresquez, and many other relatives and friends. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Rubelia Martinez, his son Obie Martinez and wife Betsy, his daughters, Eunice Martinez, Theresa Dominguez, and Ruth M. Klein and husband Tom, granddaughter whom he and his wife helped raise, Debbie Martinez-Lieman and husband Jonathan, his sisters Emma Fresquez, and Ida Valdez, his sister-in-law Petra Rivera (Meliton Rivera, deceased), and by his grandchildren, Sally Wark (David), John Martinez (Georgiana), Patrick Martinez (Kathy), Roman Martinez (Yvette), Anna Benavidez (Paul), Sam Dominguez, Patricia Dominguez, Tamie Andrews (Aaron), Michael Klein, great-grandchildren, Chris Reynolds, Jr., Randy Reynolds, Kathleen Ortega (Joseph), Steven Martinez, Jennifer Wark, William Wark, Marcus Martinez, Felina Martinez, Patrick Matthew Martinez, Therese Martinez, Roman A. Martinez, Anthony J. Martinez, Alexis Benavidez, Paul Benavidez, Jr., Michael Benavidez, and one great-granddaughter, Anneliza Ortega, and many other relatives. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at the San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Penasco, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church, with a burial to follow at the Llano de San Juan Cemetery in Llano. Serving the family as pallbearers are John Martinez, Patrick Martinez, Roman Martinez, Sam Dominguez, Michael Klein, and Steven Martinez. The family of Ovaido Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
