Oscar Roy Norris, Jr., 84, a resident of Los Alamos passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Roy was born on March 11, 1928 in Johnson City, TN to Oscar Roy and Jewel (Booth) Norris. He was the 5th of 6 children growing up in North Carolina. Roy served in WWII stationed in the Aleutian Islands. Roy came from Carlsbad to Los Alamos in the late 1940’s, where he retired from Los Alamos National Labs. Roy was a western history buff. He enjoyed researching his genealogy, boating, camping, treasure hunting and golf. He was a member of the Elk’s, VFW, and American Legion. He had a good ride. Roy was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Gail; son, Daniel Alan; parents, Oscar Roy Sr. and Jewel; brother, Raymond; sister, Wilma. Roy is survived by his sons, David of Española, John and wife Becky of Carlsbad; grandchildren: Shawn and Dustin; brother, David; sisters: JoAnn and Lorene of NC; numerous other loving relatives & friends. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a graveside service to follow at Guaje Pines Cemetery.
