Orlando - Age 90 - Santa Cruz Quintana

Orlando Quintana – Age 90 a resident of Santa Cruz went home to be with Our Lord on Saturday, April 7, 2012 after a lengthy illness with his family at his side. Mr. Quintana was a World War II Veteran in the U.S. Army with tours in the Philippines and Alaska. He was a life-long member of Local Carpenters Union #1353. Orlando was a member of the American Legion, Holy Family Society, and a lifelong parishioner of La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lucano and Crescenciana Quintana; brother, Louie Quintana; sisters: Sarah Delgado, Martha Hidalgo and Teresina Martinez; and a nephew raised as a brother, Atanacio Montoya. Mr. Quintana is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Matilde Quintana; daughters: Jo-Ann Romero and husband David of San Pedro, Roberta Martinez and husband Harold of La Mesilla, Geraldine Thielen and husband Daniel of Albuquerque and Christine Garcia and husband Toby of Albuquerque; his sister, Gloria Silva; a niece raised as a sister, Regina Martinez; niece, Mary Montoya; sisters-in-law: Florence Quintana and Mary Quintana; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation for Mr. Quintana will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: David Raul Romero, Harold Martinez, Jr., Nathan Thielen, Jordan Thielen, Matthew Garcia, John LeDoux; honorary pallbearers: all of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, godchildren, Celso Ortiz, Gene Quintana and Rosa Castillo, caretaker. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association, New Mexico Chapter – 9500 Montgomery NE, Suite 121 – Albuquerque, NM 87111. The family of Orlando Quintana has entrusted the care of their beloved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley. 505-747-7477
