\r\nORLANDO S. ROMERO, 53, a resident of Velarde, departed to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 16, 2014. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold I. Romero, Sr.; grandparents, Joe F. and Magdalena Montoya and Filadelfio and Filomena Romero; aunt, Lorraine Martinez and uncle, Paul Castañeda. Orlando was born on April 18, 1960. He was a loving, caring and very talented man. His beautiful voice was shared with several Northern New Mexico bands, Los Corrientes, Savor, Suavecito, and Marcy & Grupo Lumina. He was always willing to help all his family and friends. In his adult life, his most important thing in life was his mom, making sure she was always comfortable in every way possible. Assisting her daily with all her needs. His mother was his best friend, the love of his life as well as his nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews who also knew him as Uncle Buddy. Orlando was the first grandson born to the Montoya family, therefore was the pride of his aunts as well as his deceased grandparents; he was grandma Montoya’s favorite grandson who he cared for until her passing. Mr. Romero is survived by his mother, Ymelda Romero; sisters and brother, Germine and husband Bernie, Harold, Jr. and companion Bernadette, Patricia and husband Manuel and Melissa and husband Carlos, Sr.; aunts and uncles, Jose Trujillo and wife Kathy, Lucille and Franklin, David Martinez, Patricia and husband Juan, Corrine and husband Nino, Gloria and husband Benny, Henry and wife Mary, Vicente and wife Louisa, Orlando and wife Josefina and Rosa; Candie, Phil and Lila, Isaac, Theresa and companion Leo, Marvin and wife Noreen, his nieces and nephews, Victoria and husband Germain, Carmen and Crystal, Jacob and companion Yolanda, God daughter, Andrea and companion Andrew, Harold III and companion Sharon, Kayleen and companion Douglas, Carlos Jr. and companion Gloria and Ashley and companion Jacob; great-nieces and nephews, Deon, Deshaun, Aubrianna, Shayna, Kaycelyn, Aliyah and Domian, Reyes, Lionel, and Katy; best friend, Ingrid whom he always called on when he needed someone to talk to; as well as numerous cousins, relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde. Burial to follow at the Velarde Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Bernie Romero, Carlos Gallegos, Sr., Marvin Romero, Sr., Carlos Gallegos, Jr., Harold Romero III and J.R. Segovia. Honorary pallbearers named are, his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. The family of Orlando Romero has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.\r\n
