Ophilia Gurule, a resident of Española, formally of El Rito passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side, on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Juanita Alire and infant brother. Mrs. Gurule loved gardening, her pets and cooking for her family. Her granddaughters were the center of her world. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mrs. Gurule is survived by her husband of 48 years, Presiliano Gurule; son, Jason Gurule and companion Bonnie Ramos; daughter, Tina Maree Lopez and husband Timmy; grandchildren: Larrisa Gurule and fiancé Bryan Maestas, Tammie and Eric Lopez, David Anthony Gurule and wife Evelyn; great-grandchildren: Jordan and Aliyah Lopez and Zoey Carolina Gurule; special aunts & uncle: Francis and Horacio Jaramillo, Ida Manzanares; special cousin, Andrew Alire; brothers and sisters, Pauline and Larry Varos, Priscilla and Jerry Gallegos, Lucy and Roy Varela, Joann Wiggins, Judy and Paul Rivera, Porfy and Mae Alire, Jimmy and Vickie Alire, Robert Alire and companion Anna, Pacomio and Joyce Alire, and David and Horacio Alire; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary and David Graham, Corine and Arthur Pacheco, Mary Jane and Juan Rael, Abel Gurule, Leo and Connie Gurule, Gilbert Gurule, Berna and Gabriel Salazar and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with the following serving the family as pallbearers: Tina, Timmy and Tammie Lopez, Larrisa Gurule, Bryan Maestas and Jason Gurule; honorary pallbearers: Andrew Alire and David Graham. The family of Ophilia Gurule have entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
