Olivia R. - Age 86 - Dixon Valdes

Olivia R. Valdes – Age 86 a resident of Dixon passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, April 6, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfonso E. Valdes; parents: Juan S. and Beronis Romero; brother, Onesimo Romero. She retired after 37 years as an educator for the local school districts. Her passion for teaching influenced many young lives who fondly continue to remember her to this day. She became active in the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary of Dixon. She was an active lifelong member of the Embudo Presbyterian Church. Her favorite pastime was collecting antiques and gardening. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie S. Abeyta and husband Peter M. Abeyta and Bea Valdes and husband Albert Gonzales; son, Tommy Valdes; grandson, Raul Abeyta, sister, Thelma Lucero and husband Benito; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Embudo Presbyterian Church in Dixon. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Diabetes Association, the Heart Association, or the Alzheimer’s Association in her name. The family of Olivia R. Valdes has entrusted the care of their beloved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
