Octaviano Madrid, 96, a resident of Youngsville, passed away of natural causes on Thursday, December 18, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eduvigen Madrid; sons, Porfidio, Armando, Ubaldo, and Jake Madrid; daughters, Monica Madrid, and Paula Garcia; parents, Leondro and Matilde Madrid; mother and father-in-law, Placido and Porfidia Valdez; grandsons, Brian Garcia and Glen Madrid; brothers, Federico, Facundo, Jose, Ignacio, Manuel, Leandro, and Anselmo Madrid and beloved God-son, Alvaro Madrid. Octaviano retired from the Coyote District Forest Service and was a lifelong rancher. He was devoted to his family as well as to his faith, he enjoyed riding his horses and tending to his cattle. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a very kind and generous man. Mr. Madrid is survived by his children, Orlando Madrid and wife Alice of Gallina, Eloy Madrid and wife Barbara of Denver, CO, Louie Madrid and Sally of La Mesilla, Cloraida Valdez of Youngsville, Rosemary Madrid of La Mesilla and Barbara Sandoval and husband Gilbert of Velarde; granddaughter raised like a daughter, Monica Madrid of Rio Rancho; special niece that was raised like a sister, Madge Boyd of Virginia; 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the San Pedro Catholic Church in Youngsville. Burial to follow at the Youngsville Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Darren, Mark, Eloy Madrid, Jr., James Valdez, Julian Mata, Earl Valdez, and Angel Madrid. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, Jacobo Salazar, Ilifonso Madrid, Herman and Matilde Salazar. The family of Octaviano Madrid has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.\r\n
