Octaviano “Mi Lindo” J. Valdez, 84, a resident of Vadito, NM passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014. Mr. Valdez was preceded in death by his parents, Juan de Jesus and Fedelina Valdez; daughter, Carmen Valdez, son Billy Martin Valdez, step-daughters, Rosalie Cordova, Josephine Galloway; grandson, Adrian Romero; brother, Benedicto Valdez, sisters, Orcelia Martinez and Estephanita Martinez; sister-in-law, Corina Valdez, and brother-in- law Edward Martinez. Octaviano “Mi Lindo” was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He was known as a bubbly, outgoing, and overall a people person. Octaviano loved the outdoors especially camping to La Junta Canyon which made him happy being with all his children. His nephews knew him as “Tio Tano”. Mr. Valdez worked for the State Hwy Dept. for 26 years. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Octaviano is survived by his wife Adelina Valdez of Vadito; sons, Pablo Valdez (Anna) of Santa Fe, Alfonso Valdez (Jennie) of Rio Lucio, Herbert Valdez of Vadito, and Anthony Valdez (Yolanda) of Espanola, daughters, Sharon Rendon (Michael) of Velarde, Beatrice Romero (Roland) of Ojito NM, Isabel Valdez (Michael Eichwald) of Los Lunas, Angela Sanchez of Vadito, and Anna Rose Sudomerski (Douglas) of Beaufort, SC; grandchildren, Paul Steven Valdez (Richard) of Santa Fe, Mark Rendon (Rebecca) of Velarde, Juan Lucero of Texas, Anton Galloway of Utah, Joshua, Andrew and Donovan Sudomerski of Beaufort SC, Brittney, and Amber Eichwald of Los Lunas, A.J., Marissa and Vanessa Valdez of Taos; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Romero of Ojo Sarco; son-in-law, Tony Galloway of Utah; brother and sisters, Bernardo Valdez of Vadito, Andreita Romero (Ernesto) of El Llano, and Irene Valdez (Casimiro Chacon), sister-in-law, Alcarita Valdez and numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Nuestra Señora de Dolores Catholic Church in Vadito. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the San Antonio Catholic Church in Peñasco. Burial to follow at the family residence in Vadito. The family of Octaviano J. Valdez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
