Norma Jo Martinez was born in Superior, Arizona on January 27th, 1955. She was a lifelong Catholic, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother (nana), aunt, and friend, a resident of Abiquiu, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Norma Jo devoted her life to her family and career. She was a registered nurse for over 29 years and a licensed masseuse. Known for being a highly talented nurse, she found true happiness helping those in need and caring for everyone she met. She was a natural caregiver who impacted the lives of those around her, whether she knew them personally or not. Norma’s outgoing and warm personality landed her many, many dear friends over the years whom she held near to her heart. Norma was an avid pet lover and had several “fur babies”. She loved to travel with her husband in their RV but her favorite place to visit was Las Vegas, New Mexico where her “baby girls” (Karleen, Kristen and Kaelee) were. Norma was a beautiful soul, that was adored by everyone.
She is preceded in death by her parents Edminio (Joseph) and Rose E. Gallegos, daughter Tracy Valdez, brother Joseph Gallegos, and sister Jessica Valdez.
She is survived by her loving husband Robert Martinez, daughter Karleen Montano (Joe Aragon), son Cesar Vargas, granddaughters Kristen Montano and Kaelee Montano (Sebastian Gonzales), sister Clarissa Olivas, brother-in-law Daniel Martinez (Kathleen), brother-in-law Joaquin Martinez (Sara); numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren.
A Rosary will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Santa Cruz de la Canada Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, NM at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 11:00 am at Santa Cruz de la Canada Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, NM. Burial to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in El Llano, NM.
