Nino Buffa, of Castellammare del Golfo Italy passed away on March 27, 2016 at age 90 peacefully of natural causes at his daughters home.
He is survived by his children Sat Mohine, John, Vince, Michael Antonello, and Susan. He is also survived by his siblings Nina, Michael, Andrea, Giovana, and Alba.
Nino was a proud grandfather to 9 young adults Kirn, Nam Simran, Jason, Jamie, Jenny, Jaylen, Anthony, Laura, and Jack. He was even more proud to be a great grandfather to Isabel, Evelyn, Kawika, Leia, and Lila. To them he was affectionately known as “Great Great” or “GG”.
Nino was a first generation immigrant from Italy who came to the United States through Ellis Island; his experience is recorded as a part of the living history exhibit at Ellis Island.
Professionally Nino was a builder and general contractor throughout his life. He also served proudly in WWII as member of the Italian Navy and co-authored a book about his WWII experiences and immigration story.
Even though he became an American citizen he maintained a tremendous amount of pride in his Italian heritage and frequently went back to visit and share his heritage with his family. He was a lover of opera, spaghetti al dente, expresso, and gelato which he shared with the many friends he made everywhere he went.
