Nicholas K. Kaye, 17, a resident of Ohkay Owingeh, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 28, 2018. Nicholas was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ernest Kaye Sr.; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Denise Gallegos; aunt, Maria Gallegos and God-father, Paul A. Baca. Nicholas is survived by his parents, Ernest Kaye and Melanie Montoya; sisters, Victoria and Danielle Kaye; grandmother, Marie Kaye (Tony); uncle, Evan Kaye (Christina); aunts, Hilary Sanchez (Josiah) and Rose Valdez (Ricky); uncle, Joseph Benson; close cousins, Julian Herrera, Ashlynn Kaye and Adriana Kaye; great uncle, Ernest Cata (Sandra); great aunt, Barbara Phillips (Larry) and many other loving relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the family home, 420 E. Kennedy Loop in Ohkay Owingeh with a second rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with burial to follow at the Ohkay Owingeh Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Evan Kaye, Eric Phillips, Santiago Herrera, Chad Baca, Adam Cata, Amos Pacheco, Anthony Maestas and Larry Phillips. The family of Nicholas K. Kaye has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
