Nettie T. - Age 90 - Ohkay Owingeh Cata

Nettie T. Cata – Age 90 a resident of Ohkay Owingeh passed away peacefully at home following a short illness on Saturday, March 10, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents: Eliseo and Margarita Trujillo; husband, Jose R. Cata; daughter, Marie J. Abeyta; and son-in-law, Jose Gabriel Cata. She was actively involved in her traditional activities in the Ohkay Owingeh Community. She loved to attend her granddaughters basketball games and school activities. Her pastime involved socializing at the casino and being with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Cata; grandchildren: Judy Cata, Laura Calvert, Stephanie Martinez and husband Vernon, Leon Abeyta, Rachael Martinez and husband Lindbert; son-in-law, Michael A. Abeyta; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and numerous Godchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Cata Residence with a second rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial will follow at the Ohkay Owingeh Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Leon Abeyta, Lindbert Martinez, Brandon Cata, Marcelino Calvert, Darren Calvert, Garrett Martinez, Alvin Martinez, Joseph Martinez, Chris Gipson and Kenny Chavez. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all of her great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The family of Nettie T.
