NEMECIO OSELIO LOPEZ, 83, a resident of Chamisal, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014 following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian B. Lopez; parents, Antonio and Carmelita Lopez; daughters, Carmen and Edwina Lopez; grandsons, Donald Rodriguez and Carlos Gurule and other family members. He retired from the Peñasco Independent Schools and served in the Armed Forces in the Korean War. He also served 30 years as Branch President of the Peñasco branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Nemecio was a loving and devoted father and grandfather and member to his community. Mr. Lopez is survived by his daughters, Carol Gonzales and husband Guadalupe of Alcalde, Dora Rodriguez and husband Junior of Peñasco, Diane Pacheco of Chamisal, Sarah Lopez and Raymond Sandoval of Peñasco, Lydia Arguello of Albuquerque, Josie Farnsworth and husband Robert of Utah and Mary Perry and Shaye of Oregon; 25 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, February 3, 2014 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 410 Rodeo Road, Santa Fe with a funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Edward Gurule, Josh and Sandee Vigil, Michael Farnsworth, Jerold and Alex Arguello and Simon Pacheco. Honorary pallbearers named are, Marty Vigil, Nicholas Rodriguez, Austin Farnsworth and Jeremiah Romero. The family of Nemecio Oselio Lopez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
