Nadine E. - Age 33 - Velarde Lopez

Nadine E. Lopez, 33, a resident of Velarde, passed away of a short illness on Sunday, January 12, 2014. She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Garcia; maternal grandparents, Manuel and Emma Lopez, maternal great-grandparents, Silviano and Eloisa Romero; and aunt, Priscilla Diaz. Nadine was an only child and the apple of her parent’s eyes. Her relationship with her grandmother Emma was an extraordinary and special one. She was a loving daughter, granddaughter, niece, and friend. Nadine adored her 4 children, Jasmine, Joselyn, Kayla and Shannon. She was very talented with her photography; she enjoyed the outdoors, and camping. The one thing Nadine always looked forward to was her Mama’s cooking. Nadine found great comfort with all her uncles, aunts, and cousins and loved them very much. She will be dearly missed. May she rest in peace. Nadine is survived by her parents, Benny and Wanda Martinez of Velarde; her loving children, Jasmine Lopez, Joselyn, and Kayla Atencio, and Shannon Lopez all of Velarde; father of her children, Jeremy Atencio of Los Luceros; paternal grandparents, Richard Marquez and wife Joanne of Los Luceros, paternal grandfather, Joe Atencio of Velarde, and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at Victory Faith Church with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. also at Victory Faith Church. Burial to follow at Loma Vista Cemetery in Alcalde with the following serving as pallbearers, T.C. Atencio, Louie Rodriguez, Brian Rodriguez, Jose Atencio, Michael Marquez and Jesse Urbina. The family of Nadine Lopez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
