Muriel Casias

 

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Muriel M. Casias, a resident of Espanola, NM who went home to be with our lord and savior Jesus Christ Wednesday November 29, 2023, at the age of 86. She peacefully left this life surrounded by her loving family. Muriel was born on October 28, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Alfred and Gladys Ford. From November 02, 1957, Murial cherished 45 years of a joyous marriage, shared camping adventures, and spent quality time in the northern New Mexico mountains with Chico Casias, until his passing in 2002. 

 

Having been a passionate artisan in the realm of arts and crafts for numerous years, Muriel found immense joy in creating hand-sewn tapestries, exploring the vibrant world of liquid paint art, mastering the intricate art of quilting, crafting delightful pillow dolls, and molding beautiful ceramics. 

 

In her later years, she took pleasure in engaging with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren through board and card games. A devoted Christian throughout most of her life, she placed her trust in the Lord. One of her cherished pastimes was conversing with family and friends, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, about Jesus and the teachings of the Bible.

 

Muriel is preceded in death by Father Alfred Ford, mother Gladys Ford, her loving husband Manuel (Chico) Casias, sons Wayne and Clifford Casias, daughter in law DeeDee Arellano, sister Roberta Wilburn, brother Charles Ford, and grandsons Ernesto Casias, Chase Overson, and Johnny Dominguez.

 

Muriel is survived by her son and caregivers Jeffrey Casias, daughter Bonnie Overson (Leonard), Charles Rausch (BettyJo) , step son Manuel Martinez (Janice), sister Carol Homick (Bob), Grandchildren Amos Overson (Charlotte), Derrick Overson (Deanna), Shane Overson (Rachel), Patrick Gomez, Jerome JJ Casias (Georgia), Jesse Casias (Deanna), Jessica Munoz, Jeff Vigil (Rachel), Jenny Maes (James), Tina Ruiz (Lorenzo), Leon Casias, Joshua Casias (Lynea), Dallas Hayes, Shantelle Casias, Cassandra Casias , Santana Casias, Johnathon Raush (Hanna), Mary Elizabeth Cobb (Australia), nephews William Wilburn (Cheryl) and Corey Homick (Danielle), daughter in laws, Geraldine Segura Casias, Liz Herrera, and Dorothy Vigil along with several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
