Morris Allen - age 78 - Española Short

Morris Allen Short, 78, born in Nida, Oklahoma, Jake Short, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014 in Española. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie “Grace” Anna Short; his son, Richard Dean Short and his brother and sister in law, Jose G. and Mella Salazar.\r\nJake, was a United States Air Force veteran who retired after 20 years of service from 1954 to 1974. One of his first duty stations was Radar Station 767, Air Control and Warning, near Lake Vado. In 1957, Jake married Grace Moya from Chama, and had two sons Terry and Ricky. In more ways than one, New Mexico had his heart. Throughout his Air Force career, Jake was stationed in numerous locations to include Tripoli, North Africa, Tachikawa AFB, Japan, Kadena AFB, Japan and Beale AFB, California working in Missile Guidance System repair and Logistics. Jake was an avid fisherman and a true American patriot. Upon retirement from the Air Force, Jake and Grace lived in California, Washington and subsequently settled in Española, New Mexico in 2007.\r\nJake is survived by his son and daughter in-law, Terry Allan and Annette Short of Maryland and his grandchildren; Jamie Schilling of Wisconsin, Zachary Short and Logan Short both of Maryland. Mr. Short is also survived by his nieces and nephews and their families, Larry and Debbie Salazar family, Peter and Carol Salazar family, Craig and Jeanette Greene family, Jose “Joey” and Marina Salazar family and Jacob and Dolly Salazar family. The Short Family would like to extend their profound appreciation and undying gratitude to both the Salazar and Greene Families, for their ceaseless support.
