Minnie Vigil

Minnie Vigil of Guachupange, NM, departed this world to be with our Lord on January 7, 2024.

Minnie was born in Santa Clara Pueblo, NM, on February 8, 1931, to Juan and Petra Gutierrez.  She married the love of her life Reynel Vigil, together they had 4 children and lived in a house they built in Guachupange.

Minnie grew up in Santa Clara Pueblo and was a tribal member of the Pueblo of Pojoaque. She was from a talent of family potters, her distinct style is easily recognizable and is treasured by many today.

Minnie is preceded in death by her husband Reynel; daughter Bernadette; parents Juan and Petra Gutierrez; brothers Clarence, Desiderio, Aloysius and Timothy; sister Lupita; father and mother-in-law Porfirio and Ramoncita Vigil; brothers-in-law Jim, Robert and Oliver; sisters-in-law Cleo, Eloisa, and Alice.

She is survived by her children Jeanette, Annette, Timothy (Dianna); grandchildren Anna, Elizabeth (Guillermo), John, Reynaldo, Amy (Brian), Samantha (Samantha) and Aaron; great-grandchildren Christopher, Layla, Rayden, Zelda, Athena, Lucas, Dylan, Eliana and Julian; sisters Gloria (John), Thelma (Joe), Lois (Derick); brother Tony; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Minnie was a devoted catholic and parishioner of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Espanola, NM.  She loved to read, her favorite author being Daniel Steele.  She enjoyed reminiscing of days gone by with family and friends.  She will be remembered as a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

May God grant her eternal peace in his heavenly kingdom.

A Rosary will be on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 11:30 am, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:30 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Parish in Espanola, NM.  Burial will take place following the mass at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Espanola, NM.
