Millie Amaya

Millie Amaya, 73, a resident of Espanola formally of Taos, passed away on Sunday January 21, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her son, Freddie Maestas Sr. and parents Eloy and Carmen Maestas. A special thank you to Pita Jaramillo, Kathy Brandstetter, Melba McNeil, Priscilla Romero and many other friends and family for their love and attention to Millie during this difficult time. Millie was formally employed at stop and eat along with various other establishments throughout the Espanola Valley. She is survived by her sister, Joan Maestas, Brother Richard Hammitt both of Taos N.M., daughter-in-law, Patricia Maestas (Freddie), Dilia Maestas, both of Albuquerque N.M., granddaughter Randi Votta(Johnathan) of Houston T.X., grandsons, Freddie Maestas Jr. and Rikki Maestas and four great-grandchildren. Serving the family as honorary pallbearers, Matthew Le Doux, Freddie Maestas Jr. Rikki Maestas, Nathan Montoya, Rudy Perea, Ernest Lopez, and Gabriel Casias. A rosary will be recited on Thursday February 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial mass to begin at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Francis de Assisi Catholic Church in Rancho de Taos,  with a burial to follow at the Talpa Cemetery. A reception will be held immediately following the burial at the Talpa community center.  The family of Millie Amaya has entrusted the care of their loved on to the DeVargas Funeral home and Crematory of the Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477
