MIGUEL “MICHAEL” ANTONIO OLIVAS, 51, a resident of Ranchitos, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Michael was born on June 12, 1961 to Frances and Sirenio “Joe” Olivas in Española. Michael was a very loving and giving man. He was preceded in death by his mother, Manuelita Frances Olivas; father, Sirenio Joe Olivas, Sr.; sisters, Frances Padilla, Mary Olivas, and Guadalupe Hosek; brothers, John Tso, Ramon, Manuel, Daniel, Estevan and Sotero Olivas. Mr. Olivas is survived by his children Manuel Ramon Olivas, Stephanie and Steven Joseph Olivas; Cassandra and Sheila Drumn and Angela Barajas whom he loved like daughters; sisters, Gloria Madrid and husband Luis and Susie Baca all of Albuquerque; brother, Sirenio “Joe” Olivas of Ranchitos; nephews raised as brothers, Oliver Torres of Ranchitos, Jude Torres and wife Denice of Santa Fe, and Eugenio Padilla and wife Roanna of Albuquerque; aunts, Bernardita Valdez and Dolores Martinez and by many more loving family members and friends. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with a memorial Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Sirenio Joe Olivas, Eugenio Padilla, Oliver Torres, Jude Torres, Gabriel Serrano and Luis Madrid. Honorary pallbearer will be Tony Jamez. The family of Miguel “Michael” Antonio Olivas has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
