Miguel A. Salazar, 40, a resident of Española passed away after a short valiant battle against Thymic Carcinoma on Saturday, June 8, 2013. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Frankie and Marcella Southard; paternal uncles: Gilbert and Richard Salazar, Dick Jamieson; aunts: Barbara and Rita Salazar. Miguel was a loving father, son, brother, uncle & friend. His passion was being outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, camping or snow mobiling. Miguel liked riding his Harley, and was happiest when he was outdoors. If you ran into Miguel, you know he would always stop to chat. He loved talking to people. Family was important to him and he loved his nieces & nephews. Rest in peace Miguel you will be dearly missed. Miguel is survived by his son, Brandon Salazar of Rio Rancho, NM; mother of his son, LeeAnn Casados of Rio Rancho; parents, Mike and Sandra Salazar of Guachupangue, NM; sister, Tammy Olivas and husband Eric of Española, NM; brother, Jeremy Salazar of Phoenix, AZ; paternal grandparents, Alex and Maggie Salazar of Guachupangue, NM; nieces: Veronica Maestas of Española and Miquela Salazar of Hernandez; nephews: Gilbert, Dennis and Jeremiah Salazar of Albuquerque; step-daughter, Feliciana Romero and fiancé Peter Aguino of Albuquerque; step-granddaughter, Jubilee Romero of Albuquerque; maternal uncle, Jim Southard and wife Sylvia of Albuquerque; paternal uncle, Chris Salazar; aunts: Jeanette Jamieson of Denver, CO, Virginia Halfmoon and husband Otis of Arroyo Seco, NM, Bernadette Frenier and husband Robert of Tesuque Pueblo, NM; special friends: Jimmy and Kim Herrera of Española, Kenny Salazar of Hernandez, Reina Ledoux of Nambe, NM, Rick Montoya of Albuquerque, Stevie Herrera of Española, Darren and Cecil Sandoval of Española, Debbie and Daniel Jacquez; numerous other loving relatives & friends. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with burial to follow to Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos. The family of Miguel A.
