Miguel - Age 76 - Ohkay Owingeh Sandoval

MIGUEL A. SANDOVAL (MULA), 76, a resident of Ohkay Owingeh, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2011 following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Mae Browning; parents, Antonio and Guillerma Sandoval. Miguel was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was married to the love of his life for 54 years. He was an excellent role model and was strong in his faith and was a gentle soul who was well liked. He was a proud member of the Hermanos de la Morada de Abiquiu. He gave and loved unconditionally and the word no was not in his vocabulary. His loving granddaughter, Iona Valdez, was his devoted caregiver and she loved him like a father. We wish to extend our special thanks and gratitude to Becky Lovato, Española Presbyterian Home Care and Ambercare Hospice for their caring and alertness to the needs of Miguel. He was a hard working strong individual who retired with the city of Española after 25 years of dedication in the utility department. Miguel was looked up to by everyone in the community. Mr. Sandoval is survived by his wife, Marie Sandoval of Ohkay Owingeh; children, Lawrence Cata, Irene Valdez, Gerald Cata, Jody Sandoval, Steven Sandoval, Annette Sandoval, Barbara Hutchinson and Angelo Sandoval; raised as his own, Jason Browning and Joshua Sandoval; sister, Virginia Garcia; special niece, Patricia Covarubias; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren all of Ohkay Owingeh and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorial mass will be held on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. also at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial to follow at the Ohkay Owingeh Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Jason Browning, Josh Sandoval, Kyle Duda, Eric Sandoval, Angelo Sandoval, Jr., Carlos Garcia, Nicholas Sandoval and Robert Chavez. The family of Miguel A. Sandoval (Mula) has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
