MICHELLE J. OLIVAS COTA, 42, a resident of Lyden, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2010 following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Michelle was a loving and caring mother, daughter and sister. She enjoyed spending time with her loving family and friends and helping others. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Manuel and Virginia Madril; paternal grandparents, Porfirio and Florentina Olivas. Michelle is survived by her sons, Richard and twin sons, Michael and Matthew Cota all of Ohkay Owingeh; parents, Richard and Phyllis Olivas of Lyden; sisters, Paula Macias and husband Johnny of Los Lunas, Holly Olivas and companion Simon Montez, considered like a brother, Jesse Olivas; niece, Kaitlynn Macias; nephews, Johnny Macias, Jude Olivas and Anthony and Sybil Cota all of Ohkay Owingeh and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too many to mention. Public visitation will begin on Monday, May 31, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial to follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Santa Cruz with the following serving as pallbearers, Johnny Macias, Zac Sanchez, Jesse Olivas, Danny Gurule, Simon Montez and Samuel Manriquez. Honorary pallbearers named are, Alex War and Jesse Olivas Jr. The Cota family has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
