Michael Lujan

MICHAEL ANTHONY LUJAN, 66, a resident of Abiquiu left this world to join his beloved granddaughter, DeShawyn who also left this world 9 months ago. He was recently preceded by his mother-in-law, Mela Salazar; his mother, Louisa Lujan, 40 years ago, and his brother Louis Lujan 8 years ago. Michael was born to Louisa Sisneros Lujan and Paul B. Lujan on April 20, 1954. Michael was a “UPS guy” when he met the love of his life, Martha Salazar of Velarde. They were married March 1981 and almost celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. They were parents to sons, Diego Lujan and wife Denise; Miguel Lujan; daughter and daddy’s girl, Maria Louisa Lujan, Michael is also survived by his 91-year old father, Paul B. Lujan and wife Nancy; sisters, Veronica Arroyos and Valerie Lujan; brothers, Paul N. Lujan and wife, Cindy;  Walter Lujan; and his beloved cat, Slick. Michael’s siblings remember Michael as having a great love for animals, having a pet bobcat and pet snake when growing up. He also was a very rambunctious child who loved imitating and roaring like a lion. They referred to him as a “wild and crazy” guy who was always laughing and had a great smile. He also loved music, especially going to concerts. Michael’s children remember him for being a loving, supportive father who loved spending time with his family. Michael also enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing and gardening. He was the proudest of being a grandfather to his only granddaughter DeShawyn. He spent hours watching “SpongeBob” with her. The family wishes to thank Dr. Fei Gu and staff at the Santa Fe Cancer Center; also, the staff of Legacy Home Health and Hospice, namely, Barbara Tubb, nurse; Sasha Salazar, nurse aide; and Jason, equipment delivery driver. Due to COVID-19, the family will have private services. The family of Michael Anthony Lujan has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
