Michael Gallegos

Michael “Showtime” Anthony Gallegos, 55, a resident of Espanola, born September 5, 1963 and passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018 after a brief illness.  He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Gallegos; step father who raised him, Rubel Montoya, his brothers Robert and Julian Gallegos, and sister in law Denise Gallegos-Rodriguez.  Michael had a strong belief that our Lord Jesus Christ was our Savior.  He was the youngest of the four and he surely made sure everyone knew that.  He was a great basketball player and played in many leagues throughout his life.  His favorite basketball team were the Lakers and you could always find him during football season watching and cheering on his Vikings.  He enjoyed cruising town and you could always find his faithful little Lucita by his side, anywhere she could go, you would find her with him. He loved music and the majority of the time was jamming it so ever one could hear it.    Michael is survived by his mother, Rosina Montoya; his son, Anthony Gallegos; granddaughter, Dominique Romero; mother of his son, Diane Lujan; sister, Lourdes Salazar and husband William; nieces, Lynette Salazar, Rosina Cohen (Josh), Maria Myers (Wesley), and Consuelo Gallegos, nephews, Javier Gallegos (Emma), Carlos Salazar (Autumn), and Julian Gallegos. Great Nieces; Layla, LeeAndra, Abrianna, Alicia, Esperanza, Lorena, Sofia, Elianna, and Hayley, great nephews, Carlitos (Renee), Filigonio, Enrique, Joaquin, Roberto, Julian and Wesley; aunts, Isabelle Vigil, Mary White; close cousin, Jimmy Boy Vigil and many other loving relatives, family and friends. Public visitation will begin on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanola, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with a burial to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Carlos Salazar, Carlitos Salazar, Josh Cohen, Antonio Gonzales, George Valdez, and Mike Roybal, honorary pallbearers will be Claudie Vigil, Pete Madrid, Lynette Salazar, Javier Gallegos, Rosina Cohen, Julian Gallegos, Consuelo Gallegos, Richard Marrufo, Mike Roybal, Demo, Phil, Lila Romero and Ron Howard.  The family of Michael Anthony Gallegos has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
