Michael - Age 61 - Chimayo Medina

MICHAEL D. MEDINA, 61, a resident of Chimayo, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2011 following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Julia Medina; brothers, Emilio and Leonard Medina and brother-in-law, David Dominguez and favorite niece, Carol Ann Gomez. He was born September 29, 1949. He lived in San Francisco, California and Seattle, Washington. In Seattle he worked on a commercial fishing boat for several years. He met the girl of his dreams, Vonnie Dunlap, and they had one daughter. In 1991 he returned to his hometown of Chimayo. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes. He also enjoyed visiting and helping family, friends and neighbors whenever he could. He was a great artist with acrylics and oils. Our favorite painting is of the Golden Gate Bridge. Mr. Medina is survived by his daughter, Sheree Dunlap-Trujillo and husband Jonas of Tacoma, Washington; grandchildren, Alyah, Leland, LeeAnn and Isaiah; brothers, Frank, Medina and wife Ruby of Cuarteles, Leroy Medina and wife Eva of Chimayo and Lawrence Medina and companion Betty of Chimayo; sisters, Leona Tiede and husband Dennis, Sennie Gallegos and husband Hank and Donna Dominguez all of Chimayo, Patsy Trujillo and husband David of Truchas and Josie Macias and husband David of Santa Fe; caretaker, Donna Dominguez and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo with the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Serving as Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews and niece: Ernie Trujillo, Paul Tiede, Angelica Dominguez and Adrian Dominguez and his brothers, Frankie, Leroy and Lawrence Medina.
