Melvin J. Lujan, 47, a resident of Espanola passed away on Friday, March 25, 2011. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ferminia Quintana; father, Pedro Lujan; brothers: Leroy Quintana, Abedon Lujan; maternal grandparents: Simon and Florencia Martinez; uncles: Jerry and Tommy Martinez. Melvin is survived by his brother: Gene Quintana and wife Elizabeth from Rawlins, Wyoming, Randy Lujan from La Mesilla; sisters: Geri Varela and husband Anselmo from La Mesilla, Laura Quintana from Servilleta, Sandra Lujan and companion Louie Garcia from Española, Inez Lujan from Taos, Florence Velarde and husband Marvin from Ojo Sarco, Cathy Lujan Balkey and companion Fabian Atencio from Tierra Azul, Rosina Medina and husband Joe from Alcalde; numerous nieces, nephews & many relatives. Cremation has taken place. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez. Burial to follow at the San Jose Catholic Cemetery in Hernandez. The following will be serving as honorary pallbearers: Jeff, Joseph, Kevin, Moises, Gene, Eric, James, Brandon, Eppie, Jason, Johnathan and Matthew. The family of Melvin Lujan have entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
