Melecio P. Padilla, 64, a resident of Arroyo Seco passed away on Friday, August 3, 2012. He was born on January 29, 1948 to Grace Quintana Padilla Sena and David Padilla. Mel was a devoted father, companion and friend to everyone. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed. Mel served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after serving in Europe for the NATO forces. He was awarded numerous honors while he served. He received both his high school diploma and associate’s degree on the same day. He was a substitute teacher in Pojoaque Schools. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Mel was preceded in death by his mother and father; daughter, Miquela Padilla; wife, Maria Tita Roybal; brothers: Tony and David Padilla; sister, Avelina Padilla. Mel is survived by his son, Melecio A. Padilla; fiancée, Leah Claudine Medina; step-daughter, Lydia Encinias; sisters: Helen (Rudy) Roybal, Alice Rodriguez, Gloria (Joe) Ortiz; in-laws: Joe (Sarah) Roybal, Lydia (Steve) Aragon, Benie Ortega, Virginia Padilla, Kathy, Mercy and Orlinda Roybal, Rosa (Ron) Weese, Alice (Jim) Coscarella, Don (Mary) Medina, Kathy (Anthony) Gonzales, Mary Ann Pacheco, Michelle (Don) Daniels, his dog, Pepper; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews, Godchildren, cousins and friends too numerous to mention. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque. Burial will take place at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
