b. October 28, 1973

Melanie Dawn Allen, age 48 of Gallup, NM a US Army Veteran.  Melanie served 2 tours of duty in Iraq.  She was a disabled veteran who spent countless hours helping other woman veterans.  She is an American Hero.  On August 20th she went to be with her heavenly father for reasons we don't understand and is now doing God's work. She will always be with us!  Melanie was a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt & friend.  She stood strong in her convictions to let God and love lead the way and she followed in complete trust that fate led her to where she needed to be.  She met and married Thomas Allen, her eternal partner.  Hew love and devotion to her husband and her children were immeasurable.  Her faith in God and dedication to her family and friends were limitless.

She is survived by her father, Wallace Begay, stepfather, Steve Kanouse.  Her husband, Thomas Allen; children: Zachary Villanueva (Annamaria Reyes), Gabriel Loera, Tristen Vara, step-daughter Lauren Thomas (Joel); grandchildren - Thalia Reyes Villanueva, Luke & James Thomas; siblings - Lana Elder (Keith), Jason Frame Jr., Charmaine Atencio (Andrew), Crystal Kanouse and many nephews, nieces and friends.

She was preceded in death by grandmother, Minnie Kinsel, and mother Charlotte Kanouse.

Public visitation for family and friends will take place this Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 1PM to 5PM at Avita Cremations and Burial, 2500 Camino Entrada, Suite A, Santa Fe, NM 87507
