Max Torrez Jr., 83, a resident of La Petaca passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. Max was preceded in death by his parents, Maclovio and Eufemia Torrez; daughter, Clorinda Torrez; brother, Ciriaco Torrez; sisters; Senovia Torrez and Precilla Serna. Mr. Torrez is survived by his wife of 53 years, Stella Torrez of La Petaca; children, Louella Gutierrez and husband Flaviano of Española, Michael Torrez and wife Beverly of Española, Ida Herrera and husband Johnny of El Rito, Leonard Torrez and wife Roberta of Alcalde, Louie Torrez of La Petaca; adopted sons, Elbert Gutierrez of Española and Louis Torrez and companion Crystal Herrera of La Petaca; brothers and sisters, Sam Edwardo Torrez of La Petaca, Placida Roybal of Albuquerque and Mae Gonzales and husband Peter of Rio Rancho; special nephew, Adolfo Torrez and wife Anita; grandchildren, Karyn, Yvette, Leonard Jr. and wife Renee, Kimberly, Clorinda, Karlah, Michael Jr., LeeAnna, Daniel, Lynette and Jennifer; great-grandchildren: Kylie, Jaslene, Emmalynn, Luke, Dani and Joshua and numerous other loving relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited 7:00 p.m. A second rosary will be recited on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Piedad de la Divina Pastora in La Petaca. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. also at Piedad de la Divina Pastora in La Petaca. Burial at La Petaca Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Johnny Herrera, Flaviano Gutierrez, Elbert Gutierrez, Leonard Torrez Jr., Louis Torrez, Michael Torrez Jr., Adolfo Torrez and Daniel Torrez. Honorary pallbearers named are, Karyn Herrera, Kimberly, Karlah, Clorinda, Yvette and companion Luke Manzanares, LeeAnna, Jennifer, Lynette and Renee. The family of Max Torrez Jr. have entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
