Mauricio (Maverick) Sanchez , 80 resident of Alcalde and formerly of Dixon passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Mauricio was preceded in death by his parents, Rufina & Ignacio Sanchez; sons, Harold & Donald Sanchez and Antonio (Red) Martinez; brother, Jose Ignacio and Tito Sanchez; sisters, Stella Duran, Marie Martin, & Eliziada Martinez. Mauricio was a very loving, generous, sincere man who loved and appreciated everyone who took the time to visit him during the many years of his illness. Everyone loved and respected this beautiful man. He was with his wife Caroline for 33 years and they shared a wonderful life together. Mauricio’s passion was his garden and always shared his crops with everyone. For sure he is in heaven where he will again be able to plant his garden with the help of his sons. Mauricio is survived by the love of his life his wife, Caroline Sanchez; his daughters, Sharon, Perla & Shirley Sanchez (Agustin) Delmeria (Adelmo) Martinez, Sandy (Matthew) Coriz; sons, Tito Sanchez and Frankie Martinez; brother, Paul Sanchez; sisters, Josie Lopez and Bennie Suazo; brothers-in-law, Louie Sanchez, Armando (Linda) Sanchez, and Johnny (Annette) Sanchez; sisters-in-law, Irene (Vince) Meza, Elsie (Moreno) Martinez, Nora (Ruben) Archuleta, Tonita (Fedelino) Chacon, and Terry (Paul) Martinez; special granddaughter, Merissa Coriz who took such good care of her Grandpa; daughter, Sandy Coriz who was always available to make sure her dad’s medical needs were met. Mauricio’s other caregivers: grandsons, Mauricio Sanchez & Frankie Martinez III and niece Shirley Trujillo. Special thanks to his sisters-in-law and Fedelino Chacon who were always available to help Mauricio for anything he needed; 25 grandkids: Joseph, JoLynn, Ignacio, Mauricio, Miranda, Christina, Alexandra, Harold, Rosanna, Agustin, Jonathan, Maria Elena, Kristal, Kristy, Kenneth, Frankie III, Mariah, Fidel, April, Merissa, Destiny, Twyla, Nathan, Alaysha, & Monissa; 27 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and any nieces & nephews and close friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:30 a.m. The family of Mauricio Sanchez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
