MATTHEW V. TRUJILLO, 60, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018, peacefully surrounded by his brother, Mark, his aunt, Marie Pacheco, cousins, Thelma Salazar, Tim Pacheco and Cynthia Borrego by his side. Matthew was born May 12, 1958 to Ismael and Eliza B. Trujillo in Santa Fe and was raised in Española. He graduated from Mc Curdy High School and went on to UNM, graduating with a degree Economic Development. He then went on to the University of Illinois in Urbana and received a Master’s in Urban Planning and continued on for his 2nd Masters at the University of Pittsburgh and graduated with honors with a Masters in Investment Banking. Matthew started his career in Toronto, Canada as vice president of the Melon Bank, then went on to Chicago and was the vice president of BANCA COMMERCIALE ITALIANA and Vice president of the Japan’s SMBC Nikko Securities, a bank Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Investment Group. Matthew was also a very talented artist with oils, pottery and jewelry. He was an exceptional intellectual gentle human being who could talk at length about any subject. Matthew was preceded in death by his parents, Ismael and Eliza B. Trujillo of Valley Estates (Española); infant brother, Joseph Mel; grandparents, Vicente and Beronice Borrego of Santo Nino and E.D and Ramonita Trujillo of Riverside and Chimayo. Mr. Trujillo is survived by his brother, Mark Trujillo; aunt, Marie Pacheco; cousins, Thelma Salazar (Andrew), Tina Sandoval (Curtis) and Tim Pacheco (Theresa) and many other relatives and friends. The Trujillo family would like to extend a special thanks to the following for visiting with Matt during his final days and hours. Marie B. Our aunt Marie opened her heart and home to care for Matt while he bravely struggled to regain his health. Aunt Marie we love you and thank you for accepting our brother unconditionally. A celebration of Matthews life will be held on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross Church with Father Javier Gutierrez, Father Joseph Vigil and Father Tomas Carvajal officiating. The family of Matthew V. Trujillo has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
