Matthew - Age 26 - Santo Niño - Martinez

MATTHEW L. MARTINEZ, 26, a resident of Santo Niño, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 28, 2014. He was preceded in death by his father, Rick Martinez; uncles, Ronnie, Kenny and Joey Martinez; maternal grandfather, Fermin Martinez. Matthew “Satch” Martinez was very involved with his music and artistic talents. He worked with his left hand. He was passionate about music and loved his sisters and brother. He was their role model and always encouraged them to do their best. He was known for putting others before him; he was an awesome uncle to all his nieces and nephews. He was his mother’s ray of sunshine and her Sunny Days. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Martinez is survived by his mother, Melissa Martinez and husband Daniel of El Guache; sisters, Ashley Martinez and fiancé Nick of Cuarteles, Brittany Valdez and companion Leroy of Chimayo, Alyssa Valdez and Angel Valdez both of Santa Fe; brother, Daniel Maestas of El Guache; fiancé, Taya Kaskalla of Nambe; maternal grandmother, Corinne Martinez of Santo Niño; paternal grandparents, JoAnn and Dale Miller of Santa Fe; nephews and niece, Devin Sisneros, Mason Apodaca, Hailey Apodaca and Carlos Maestas; special cousin, Ronnie Martinez of Santo Niño and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial to follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Santa Cruz. The family of Matthew L. Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
