Matilde Romero

MATILDE ROMERO, 95, a resident of Cordova, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Moises Romero; son, Adauto Romero; her parents, Adauto and Cleofas Romero; grandson, Brian Romero; sisters, Precedes Martinez, Frances Romero, Mabel Martinez, brothers, Nicomedes Romero, Juan Romero and Esequiel Romero; and in-laws, Victor and Beronis Romero.  She loved farming, picking pinon, and being around all her family. Every chance Matilde would get she would love to go to the Casino. Matilde is survived by her daughters, Consuelo Garcia, Imelda Gonzalez, Ida Rodriquez and husband Adrian, Sandra Romero and companion Daniel, sons, Silviano Romero, Ernesto Romero, raised as her own, Norman, Joey, and Victoria Romero, Flor, Peter, and Jaime whom she considered her own children; sisters, Angelica Rodriquez; brother-in-law, Arsenio Romero and wife Bernie, sister-in-law, Prescilla Romero; grandchildren, Yvonne, Carol, Michael (Susana), Matthew, Norman (Sharon), Rita (James), Markie, Adrian (Sonya), Gladys, Joelle (Daniel), Sammy, Joey (Anita), Tere (Fernando), Victoria (Jamie), Charlie (Jennifer), Flor, Pedro (Anna), Rebecca (Earl), and Jaime (Bianca);  28 great-grandchildren plus great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, with a burial to follow at the Cordova Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Michael, Matthew, Markie, Adrian, Sammy, Joey, Pedro, and Jaime, honorary pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren.
